Trillium Hollow is our Cohousing Community in Portland, Oregon. It's like a small village where everyone knows each other, but without any stores. It's a neighborhood in which we all have our own places, but we share things like lawn mowers, garden space, and a tools shop. It is an intentional community that has people of all ages that you know better than neighbors, but that aren't quite relatives. We are a fixed size community that has a focus on friendships and respect.
The community layout is architected so that we have space to hold group gatherings, quaint walkways and our own individual homes. We enjoy the benefits of getting together to share activities such as gardening and parties, but still being able to get away from each other or just hang out with immediate family.
The cohousing.org website is a wonderful resource for those new to the idea of cohousing. The also run an excellent listserv.
