Path to the Neighborhood
The “Path to the Neighborhood” is designed to educate potential buyers and renters about living at Trillium Hollow, and to ensure that they understand and share Trillium’s fundamental agreements and philosophies. This is a voluntary but recommended process. While we strongly urge potential members to follow it, the community does not and cannot make a decision to “accept” or “reject” someone wishing to purchase (or rent) a home at Trillium. We hope that this process will lead potential residents to the right decision for themselves and the Trillium community through better understanding of each other.
How Does the Path to the Neighborhood Work?
The Path includes a series of activities:
The Buddy
After a potential resident has had a tour and attended one community event (see above), a Buddy will be assigned by Outreach. The Buddy will work with Outreach to organize the exploratory conversation, stay in touch with the potential resident, help on move-in day, and stay involved with the new resident for the next several months. He or she will be the “go-to” person.
Exploratory Conversation
This conversation or meeting is organized by Outreach working with the Buddy. It includes the Buddy and a group of 4 – 5 residents who together provide a good representation of a cross-section of the community, different ages, a parent, an elder, etc. This meeting will last from one to two hours depending on how many questions a potential resident may have.
The Desired Outcome of the Path to the Neighborhood
Our goal is to provide a potential resident with as much information as possible to help in their making an informed decision about joining the community. Once the steps of the Path to the Neighborhood have been completed, a potential resident should feel comfortable, informed, and ready to decide whether or not to purchase or rent a unit.
How Does the Path to the Neighborhood Work?
The Path includes a series of activities:
- An Outreach-planned tour, usually, but not always, conducted by a member of the Outreach Team;
- Attendance at one or more community functions: a monthly Home Owners’ Association meeting, a work party on the first Saturday, a community dinner, or any team’s monthly meeting;
- Finally, the exploratory conversation with a group of Trillium Hollow residents.
